Computer Price Club
In 1990 I had this idea to leverage my programming talents and get into
the catalog computer products sales game. I had contacts with a number
wholesale computer product suppliers. These firms started supplying
their product lists in electronic form via text files. I was able to
combine this files into a single database and generate a paper based
catalog that we handed out at computer shows.
The sales from this new venture were very minimal but the learning
experience from the effort was indispensible. The task of combining
multiple different data sources into a single consolidated data set
provided a great experience. Along with the paper based catalog I also
developed a custom application that allowed the management and quick
lookup of the consolidated data.
Computers In Action ceased operation in after a year and I decided to
take a "REAL JOB" as my parents would call it. From here I went to work
for "Fairmont Private School".
