American Honda
After running my own businesses for greater than a decade I was
presented with an opportunity to follow my professional programmer
dreams. During the interview I was able to bring a portable computer and
show off some of the coding and solutions that I have spent the last 10
years doing. Doing a real demo with a real technical professional must
have made a difference as I was offered the opportunity on the spot.
While at American Honda I worked on the DCS (Dealership Communications
System). This is the system that all United States Honda dealers use for
customer and parts information exchange with the corporation.
My involvement with the project was the coding of WinForms Visual Basic
4 forms. The business analyst defined detailed mockups that provided the
requirements necessary. I was tasked with providing alternative coding
techniques to prevent user interactions with items that are to be view
only and mentoring other developers in techniques to increase their
productivity.
